Cytogenetics

Chromosome analysis or karotyping, is a test that evaluates the number and structure of a person’s chromosomes in order to detect abnormalities. Certain cancers have mutations on a chromosome level alone.

The Benefits of Chromosome Analysis Include:

  • Global Information in a Single Assay
  • Diagnostically Useful
  • Sensitive and Specific
  • Provide direction for molecular studies of pathogenetically important genes
